Snorkeling at Coral Gardens and Swimming at Nylon Pool

This morning David and Jill, the British guests at Bijou des Caraibes, drove us to Store Bay for a day of fun. Other guests, Ken and Joanie, from Hawaii joined us.

Our Glass-bottom Boat, Miss Ayana

At the Trinidad and Tobago Tourist Authority ticket booth we bought tickets for less than $10 US for a glass bottom boat out to Buccoo Reef, also known as Coral Gardens. There were other men who approached us for the same tour, asking twice as much. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we were aware of the cost at the ticket booth. We were disappointed in the snorkeling at the reef. It was rough water. We had to wear life vests and hold onto a rope thrown out. Really not fun and we did not see much of anything. We swam in the Nylon Pool, a very shallow area of the sea with the bottom made up of white ground coral. There are many myths about swimming in the pool, one being you will feel 10 years younger. All the tourists do this activity, and so did we. It is something we would not recommend, however. Go spend the time on a beach instead.
