Our First Public Bus Trip into Scarborough, the Capital of Tobago

We took a short walk to get a bus ticket for our first ride into Scarborough, the capital of Tobago. Scarborough is about a 15 minute car ride from where we are staying. Tickets for the bus must be purchased before you get on the bus. The tickets are sold at post offices and small "grocery stores". The ticket is about 45 US cents. This is the store where we bought out tickets. See the brown eggs?

We waited for the bus for about an hour and a half! They are not on schedule. Tobago is the place where tourists must practice patience. While waiting, a bus marked TRAINING passed us by! Here is a picture of the bus. 

It was about a half hour ride into Scarborough. The bus route was on very narrow, winding roads. At times, cars had to back up so the bus could continue. The scenery was very nice. Once in the city, we walked about the streets in search of whatever there was to see. One interesting spot was the Public Convenience Building. You must pay first before using the facilities.

We found Ciao Pizza, an Italian restaurant, where we had their Contadina pizza. It was a 14 inch thin crusted pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, chicken, and grilled vegetables (mushrooms and zucchini). We ordered a pitcher of diet coke. The total came to around $20 US. Ciao Cafe is next door. It is a place that serves sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have Gelato. We will be back to try some. The pizza was too filling to have any today.
